WHO IS BILLY?
BILLY is a new independent print magazine for Victoria’s Macedon Ranges, where Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung Country meet.
Celebrating creatives, makers, movers and shakers in this beautiful part of the world, it’s a quarterly curation of local stories, by locals, for locals (and visitors too).
Free. A5. Uncoated. Perfect-bound. To have and to hold. To keep and to collect. Founded and edited by local Gisborne journalist, Phoebe Hartley. Published by Billy Press.
WHO MAKES BILLY?
Hello! I’m Phoebe Hartley, a Gisborne-based journalist, and the founder + editor of BILLY. Originally a city-slicker from Naarm/Melbourne, I moved to the Macedon Ranges with my family in 2020 and haven’t looked back. I’m a country convert, passionate about telling cinematic regional stories.
Armed with more than two decades of combined creative experience across filmmaking, audio production, copywriting and magazine journalism, I created BILLY in 2025 in order to offer a creative platform and local advertising opportunities to my community.
As a journalist I’ve written for Australian Women’s Weekly, Country Style, Australian Country, Graziher, Peppermint and Bush Journal. BILLY brings together everything I’ve ever wanted in a magazine, and I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
